Sasha Compère as "Tanya"
Q: In the film 'Uncorked" Tanya recognized the potential Elijah had to pursue his dream at the skating rink, but after the awkward silence she noticed she overstepped. As an actress, you showed your concern without seeming presumptuous. How were you able to deliver that?
A: I had a backstory story for Tanya that involved her struggling with her dreams; there’s tiny hints in the film about what she wants to achieve for herself. I think once she saw that Elijah was affected, she resonated deeply with his struggle and it was instinctually right to just be caring and patient. From the actor perspective, it’s always special to just stay connected with the person in front of you and never push for a result. Seeing Mamoudou (as Elijah) so hurt just instinctively made me want to be kind.
